The Challenge
Continuum's first goal was to find a way to easily ingest years of existing marketing and production documents. These existing documents were part of both active deadline-based projects as well as historical documents that were constantly being referenced. Continuum marketing and design teams did not want to spend days re-organizing existing network drives to determine what should be ingested, deleted or pushed offline.
The second challenge required an even more strategic solution, to ingest large amounts of content without changing their existing workflow. Continuum's marketing team required a solution that would provide all of the rich features of a digital asset management system while minimizing the learning curve of features, settings and permission structures.
And finally, Continuum faced the difficulty of more efficiently searching and sharing content between multiple international offices. Even though Continuum's network backbone is robust, pushing large assets including video had become too cumbersome.
iDAM Solution
WebArchives began this project by understanding the workflow requirements of the marketing team, mapping out various network infrastructure diagrams with Senior Continuum staff and presenting the best overall strategy.
WebArchives installed the iDAMLive Module as the underlying engine to ingest the data from multiple network locations.
In addition, the iDAM InDesign Module was instrumental in allowing marketing staff to search for images then drag and drop them directly from the iDAM web-based interface into InDesign, all while preserving the live network location.
iDAMLive was configured with several custom settings for Continuum. Continuum's Active Directory permissions were configured with every user account in iDAM. The permission setting for the network location was also adjusted to accommodate specific read and write access for users.
After the first network location was ingested into iDAM, the project plan included time for Continuum's staff to review and clean the content before the full production launch. The Continuum team used iDAM's interface to re-organize the network data. Using iDAM's web-browser, Continuum had discovered that it was easier to "see" the information and faster to make the necessary changes than it would have been using the typical Windows Explorer interface.
What They Achieved
Continuum's world wide staff are now able to collaborate in real-time across all departments. Continuum now has a rich searchable database of live content that is shared globally across multiple offices. Continuum has ingested over 2TB of data with over 1 million asset conversions in their environment.
Continuum Content Managers are able to tag and re-organize marketing data in a real-time environment. Marketing Managers and staff are able to work from either the network location or the iDAMLive interface to access any marketing materials (images, video, documents etc.).
With the iDAM InDesign module installed, iDAM also preserves all embedded links to any InDesign document making their workflow seamless and transparent.
