Forest City Enterprises is a $9.2 billion NYSE-listed real estate company headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. WebArchives installed the iDAM Digital Asset Management system in order to begin the process of creating a digital library for Forest City Enterprises' rich media assets, including photographs, graphics, layouts, illustrations, slide presentations, along with video and audio recordings. These and other digital materials now are accessed from a Forest City employee's desktop computer - speeding up the search and retrieval process as well as saving both time and man hours.

In addition to the corporate installation of iDAM, Forest City Enterprises extended its iDAM functionality to its regional office in Washington DC. Now, Forest City Washington is able to configure its own archive and distribution system to serve the office's specific needs. The system allows for individually designed image collections, tailored workflows, quality control and custom metadata. Additionally, the iDAM system enables users to access a wide array of files via full text search and includes Adobe PDF extraction, Microsoft Office applications ingestion, and compound document handler capabilities. Finally, Forest City Washington can now share its unique resources with other Forest City offices throughout the US and abroad. Administrators in DC maintain complete control over access rights and permissions for individuals inside and outside each Forest City office site.

Forest City technology leaders view the effort as a first step to a company-wide iDAM system that will be accessible throughout its multiple offices. According to Mr. Doug Bardwell, of Forest City Enterprises, the installation is the beginning of a company-wide deployment. "We faced the challenge of finding a system that could help each individual Forest City office manage content specific to their subject area and at the same time, make it available to others."
